Making Health Accessible for Everyone

Tackling social drivers of health to improve the lives of our communities in Durham

00:00 / 01:38

Direct-to-Door Deliveries

We work with local health providers to identify food insecure community members and deliver locally sourced fresh fruits, vegetables, and nutrition education to their doorsteps at no cost. Participants are referred from 12 local clinics and receive bi-weekly deliveries along with informational handouts containing helpful resources such as: healthcare access information, voting registration information, tips for healthy living, and recipes. Our materials are always bi-lingual.

 new walk-up distribution schedule

On Saturday mornings, we distribute free food and household goods in partnership with BaggingIt4Kids. There is no waitlist or sign-up for this service--you just come by! Our weekly walk-up table will alternate locations, offered at Uncle Harry’s General Store (1925 Yearby Ave) on the first and third Saturdays of each month and the Durham Center for Senior Life on the second and fourth Saturdays.

research and partnerships

The FPP is committed to advancing research in the fields of Food is Medicine and nutrition access policy. We work to develop and maintain strong partnerships with the medical community in Durham. Research is often conducted in partnership with other local community organizations to amplify our impact and prioritize community-engaged research.
